Sportcity from 9.30am

You’d better watch out, you’d better not cry… because hundreds of Santa Clauses are coming to town!
It's happening in Manchester. The date is Sunday November 29th 2009, The event is The Co-operative 5K Santa Dash and it's all in the name of a good cause, RNID.

During 2009, The Co-operative has been raising money for the RNID, the charity that aims to change the world for 9 million people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Deafness and hearing loss affects the quality of life of 1 in 7 of the population. Yet it can take someone up to 15 years before they take action that helps.

Thousands of our staff across the UK have been raising money to change this inequality. Thanks to them, we look set to raise over 2 million by the end of the year to fund new community projects reaching vulnerable people living in our communities. Plus we are working with RNID by offering FREE hearing checks in 800 The Co-operative Food, Travel and Bank branches to improvethe awareness of valuing and protecting your hearing whatever your age.

Did You Know?

  • 700,000 people in the UK are severely or profoundly deaf
  • 55% of people over 60 are deaf or hard of hearing
  • 4 million people who experience hearing difficulties in everyday life do not have a hearing aid

Having properly working hearing aids changes people's lives. Please support this fantastic charity and help us to reach another 18,000 vulnerable people across the UK.
