Charity Santa runs have become a fixture of the seasonal calendar and are heald around the world everywhere from Las Vegas to Liverpool. Thousands of people take part with family or friends in this global phenomenon. Some cities such as New York have recorded over 13,000 runners whilst Las Vegas and Liverpool have been challenging each other since 2005 for the World Santa Run Trophy.
The Co-operative 5K Santa Dash will take place over closed roads around the Sportcity complex starting at and finishing on the Regional Athletics Track. The route will be fully marshalled and takes in
- Eastlands Way around Manchester City FC
- Alan Turing Way to Hulme Hall Way
- Vickers Street
- PO Street
- James Street
- Varley Street
- Bradford Road
- New Viaduct Street
- Philips Park and immediate left to Rowsley Street
- Sarah Ann Street
- Sportcity stadium finishing on the Regional Athletics Track
A junior Santa Dash will also take place in the morning and 8-12 year olds get to compete on the Regional Athletics Track.
